"Plight of The Teenage Insomniacs"
The article that I read for my current event was published in the latest newsweek. I discusses the importance of teens getting their recommended nine hours of sleep per day. It states that many teens express symptons of insomnia and in effect they feel "5 times more (than those who get the recommended ammount) like they are lacking mental health, three times more likely to have health problems and problems at school and are twice as likely to turn to drugs like marijuana and alcoholism as a self-medication to get to sleep." Finally they stated that between the years 2001-2006 the use of persciption sleep medications went up by 45% in children under nineteen.
